Date/Time: September 18, 19, and 20, 2025 at approximately 7:30 p.m. (during the rodeo performance; teams must check in each night they will compete on the north end of the arena behind the chutes before 6:30 p.m.)
Rules and Regulations
- A team will consist of three (3) members. Only eight (8) teams will be allowed each night.
- Allowable equipment to be used will be as follows:
- Only western riding saddles will be allowed to saddle the steers (saddle must have cinches and stirrups; not modifications will be allowed on the saddles)
- No lariats or spurs will be allowed to be used in any way during the event.
- All equipment will be inspected by the committee chairman prior to the event to ensure that teams are equal in equipment being used.
- Age: eighteen (18) years of age or sixteen (16) years of age with a guardian present. All contestants/guardians must show valid identification.
- Entries for the eight (8) teams will be established on first-team paid basis.
- All contestants must wear long sleeve shirts (buttoned at wrist) and a hat or cap (cannot be worn backwards).
- Contestants can enter more than one time, but only once per night.
Procedure of Event
- The steers used in the event will be steers that the stock contractor supplies. The committee has no control over the size of the steers.
- The steers will be placed in bucking chutes with a cotton rope looped around the steer's horns.
- Team members will position themselves in front of the bucking chute. One team member will hold the rope attached to the steer's horns, another will hold the saddle and the final team member will be ready to assist the team as needed.
- Chutes will be opened by the teams at the sound of the buzzer.
- When chutes are open and steers are out of the chute, team members will stop, restrain, and saddle the steer (steer must be out of the chute prior to saddling). One team member will ride the steer across a pre-determined finish line. Rider must be in the saddle at the time they cross the line. No team member can help hold rider, saddle, or steer, but they can hold the rope.
- Teams will not be allowed to initially saddle the steers any closer than thirty (30) feet in front of the finish line. This is to prevent teams dragging the steer to within inches of the finish line and riding across.
- Once the steer is saddled within the allowable distance of the line, and the rider mounts the steer saddled within the distance, team members may fall off and remount as many times necessary to cross the line.
- Committee members will be stationed at saddling and finish lines to make decision as to rules being followed and to determine winners.
- All decisions made by the committee will be final. All protest and disputes must be turned in to the committee within thirty (30) minutes of event completion.
- There will be absolutely no refunds of entry fees once a team has entered the contest.
- No unnecessary roughness.
- One team cannot win overall 1st and 2nd place for buckles, but same team can win cash jackpot each night.
Awards
Winners will be selected as follows:
- Two (2) heats consisting of three or four teams per heat will compete each night for a total of eight teams per night.
- Teams will be timed and the fastest two teams of ALL three (3) nights will be awarded the following:
- 1st Place Team - Belt Buckle to each Team Member
- 2nd Place Team - Belt Buckle to each Team Member
- Cash Jackpot - Fastest Time Per Night
