Kelsey Fehrle

Kelsey Fehrle

Kelsey Fehrle represents the Burton FFA. Kelsey is a junior at Burton High School, and the daughter of Walt and Margaret Fehrle. In school, she is involved with FFA, Beta Club, cheer, and cross country. In the community, she is involved with the Brethren Youth Fellowship, and enjoys showing pure-bred swine and Brahmin cattle. She has also served as a buddy for the Champion Drive and a mentor for the Bucket Calf Program.
Carsyn Hodde

Carsyn Hodde represents Washington County 4-H as a senior at Brenham High School. Carsyn is the daughter of Randy and Debbie Hodde. At school, she is involved with the Brenham track team, FCCLA, and FFA. She is also president of Zionsville 4-H. In the community, she attends Champion Fellowship and Young Life. She also volunteers at the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library, Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, St. Paul’s Vacation Bible School, and the Champion Drive. She has shown market barrows and carcass hogs at the fair, and will be showing a market steer for the first time this year.
Emma Prewitt

Emma Prewitt represents the Brenham High School Anchor Club. A senior at Brenham High School, Emma is the daughter of Billy and Lori Prewitt, and Brandon and Courtney Swanson. At school, she serves as class president, student council vice president, and president of the National Honor Society. She also serves as the statistician for varsity baseball, and is a member of the Heritage Belles. In the community, she enjoys Young Life, volunteers at the library, and assists in children’s classrooms at the Country Bible Church. She has shown goats, and has participated in livestock judging.
Sydney Stein

Sydney Stein is representing the Brenham FFA as a senior at Brenham High School. Sydney is the daughter of Darrell and Rose Stein. She involves herself with FFA and playing in marching and concert band. In these groups, she holds leadership roles such as student advisor, historian, and section leader. In the community, she attends St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Salem 4-H. She also enjoys showing rabbits and participating in the vet med judging team.
Neeleigh Wellmann

Neeleigh Wellmann is representing Washington County 4-H. Neeleigh is a junior at Brenham High School and the daughter of Wade and Tara Wellmann. At school, she is involved with varsity soccer and FFA. Within the community, she is a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She also serves as third vice president at Sandy Hill 4-H, and participates in the Washington County Champion Drive and Ag Day. She has shown rabbits, lambs, goats, and commercial heifers, and is a member of the livestock judging team.


About The Fair Queen Contest

The Fair Queen Contest is a long standing tradition at the Washington County Fair. Although the criteria for the queen contest has evolved over the years, these hard working young ladies are tasked with promoting the Washington County Fair and also perform the duty of selling advanced season tickets. Fair Queen Candidates are selected by local schools and organizations within Washington County. These Candidates compete for the prestigious title of Washington County Fair Queen as well as a scholarship given by the Washington County Fair Association.

The Washington County Fair Queen Candidates compete in several categories, earning points by advance season ticket sales, written essay and through an interview process. The culmination of this contest is the crowing of the Washington County Fair Queen during the Fair Queen Ceremony held at the Washington County Fair.

Points are Awarded As Follows:
Total Ticket Sales = 60 Points
Written Essay = 20 Points
Oral Interview = 20 Points

For a Maximum Total of 100 Points

Responsibilities of the Fair Queen and Candidates

  • The winning candidate will serve as the official ambassador of the Washington County Fair and must attend all functions that are required as designated by the Fair Queen Committee.
  • The Fair Queen and candidates will serve as hostesses at the Junior Livestock Auction. The Queen and the candidates have their photographs taken with buyers and sellers during the Junior Livestock Auction.
  • The Washington County Fair Queen will also be required to be present to crown the WCFA Fair Queen at next year’s fair queen ceremony.
  • During the year of the Fair Queens reign, the Fair Queen must conduct herself in a professional manner.
  • If for any reason should the Fair Queen not be able to fulfill her duties in accordance to these rules and regulations, the 1st Runner Up shall be named Fair Queen and duly authorized to perform in this capacity.
